Ladder Game

Enter players and outcomes, then tap a name. Share the link and everyone sees the same ladder.

Separate with commas. 2 to 10 players; missing outcomes are filled with “—”.

Tap a name to climb down the ladder.

    How to play

    1. Type the players and outcomes, separated by commas, and press “Draw ladder”. Outcomes can be anything: who pays, chores, prizes or turn order.
    2. Tap a name at the top. The path follows every rung it meets on the way down and opens the outcome at the bottom. “Reveal all” opens everything at once.
    3. “Copy share link” gives you a link to the exact same ladder, so friends in a group chat can play it themselves.

    What is the ladder game?

Known as ghost leg in China and amidakuji in Japan, the ladder lottery is a classic way to pair people with outcomes. Each vertical line belongs to a player, and every horizontal rung swaps the path to the neighboring line. Because no two paths ever end in the same place, every player gets exactly one outcome.

    Is it fair?

The rungs are placed at random the moment you draw the ladder. After that, the order in which people pick doesn't change anything. The share link stores the exact ladder, so everyone can check the same result.

A ladder doesn't give every possible arrangement exactly the same probability, though. If you need a perfectly uniform shuffle, use the shuffle mode of the random number generator.

    FAQ

    How many players can join?

From 2 to 10, so the names stay readable on a phone screen.

Can people see the results before playing?

No. Outcomes stay hidden as “?” until a path reaches them, including when someone opens a share link.

    Are the names stored anywhere?

Nothing is saved on a server. Names and outcomes live only in the share link itself.
